The most important part of a purity ceremony is an individuals desire, motivation and commitment to stay pure and abstinent before marriage. Parents can encourage their children to take/make a vow of purity and abstinence but if their child lacks the commitment and desire, there is no point in taking the vow, especially if the individual is not planning on keeping the vow. Teens should not take/make a vow of purity or participate in a purity ceremony just to please their parents. It needs to be an individual’s decision.
